The paper contains a short mathematical biography of Godfrey Harald Hardy (1877--1947) emphasizing on his work in Analysis and his relationship with the London Mathematical Society. The authors present the mathematical activity of Hardy before World War I, during the war years 1914--1918, in his Oxford period 1919--1931 and after his return to Cambridge in 1931.
