The authors consider a system of differential equations based on the Volterra-Lotka model where the prey population is subdivided into mature and immature individuals and the predator population is homogeneous. The interaction between predators and mature prey is assumed to have a delayed effect on the growth in predator population. The key theme of the paper is to consider the stability of equilibria solutions. The authors are able to conclude that the delay term has a significant influence here: the time delay can make a stable equilibrium become unstable.
