The author introduces left and right generalized Sasaki projections in pseudoeffect algebras and uses this notion to characterize Riesz ideals. In lattice ordered pseudoeffect algebras it is shown that generalized Sasaki projections are one-element sets and that the supremum of a normal Riesz ideal (if it exists) is a central element.
