The author has reformulated the study of the Petrov type \(D\) generalized Kerr-Schild (GKS) vacuum space-times from different points of view. The Kerr-Schild perturbation with a null vector and generalized Kerr-Schild perturbations are used. A classification of all Petrov type \(D\) vacuum models is obtained.
