The author obtains some new criteria for the oscillation of solutions of difference equations of the form: \(x_{n+1}-x_n + \sum_{i=1}^m p_i(n)x_{n-k_i}=0\), \(n=0,1,2,\dots\) which improve the existing results. In particular, several errors of the paper by \textit{B. G. Zhang} and \textit{Y. Zhou} [Comput. Math. Appl. 42, 413--418 (2001; Zbl 0997.39008)] are pointed out.
