Current and new directions in discourse and dialogue. (Q1414852)

This compilation contains extended versions of twelve papers originally presented at the 2nd SIGdial Workshop on Discourse and Dialogue, held in September 2001 in conjunction with Eurospeech 2001, as well as four invited papers on major themes in this area. Three main topics are dealt with: firstly, (speech) corpus annotation, tagging and analysis, secondly, methodologies for the construction of dialogue systems (e.g., dialog control and management strategies, context-based language generation, dialog planning, speech error handling), and, thirdly, perspectives on various key theoretical notions such as communicative intentions, conversational implicatures, speech acts, and the modeling of discourse structure (e.g., by Rhetorical Structure Theory, Information States).
