A procedure for conversion of a second-order partial differential equation (PDE) to a discrete variable coefficient Roesser model (RM) is proposed. The procedure can be used for the modelling of a 2D system described by means of a PDE by the variable coefficient RM. It provides a powerful tool for analysis and design of 2D control systems.
