This paper lays the ground work for developing a theory of hypergeometric functions associated to non-linear arrangements of hypersurfaces. An explicit formula is presented for the Gauss-Manin connection on the twisted de Rham cohomology of complements to generic hypersphere arrangements. Using this, an extension of the classical Schläfli variational volume formula is given.
