An abstract extension of differentiation called the ``pair differentiation'' is introduced as a unifying concept defined in Banach spaces. For this general form of differentiation, existence, uniqueness, product rule, chain rule, and applications to Lyapunov theory of dynamical systems are presented with illustrative examples.
