The authors develop a model of a rough-surface membrane biosensor, based on a reaction-diffusion equation in 2D with Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Numerical simulations based on the finite-difference method are used to investigate the behaviour of the system for two different geometries of the membrane (for which the model is described in either Cartesian or cylindrical coordinates) and to discuss potential applications of the results.
