In this paper an inverse radiation problem is investigated, where the unknown strength of a time-varying heat source is estimated sequentially employing an extended Kalman filter from temperature measurements in the three-dimensional participating media. The radiative transfer equation and the heat conduction equation are employed to model the heat transfer in three-dimensional participating media. The authors approach solves the multidimensional inverse radiation problem accurately even with corrected measurements.
