Cosmic strings coupled with a massless scalar field (Q1421598)

In this paper the authors present the one-parameter generalization of a three-parameter, time-dependent cylindrically symmetric solution of the vacuum Einstein equations obtained by \textit{B. C. Xanthopoulos} [Phys. Rev. D, Particles Fields 34, 3608 (1986)]. The obtained generalization preserves the properties of the Xanthopoulos solution, which are regular on the axis, asymptotically flat, and free from the curvature singularities.
