The authors consider the dynamic (nonstationary) control of the continuous casting process in three-dimensional molten steel cooled by water mist sprays. The cast is cooled and controlled according to a prescribed temperature field. The relevant boundary-value problem is posed taking into account the nonlinearity of the casting process. A very laborious and sophisticated numerical approach is applied. The paper is very interesting and useful for practical engineering applications.
