Let \(K/k\) be a finite Galois extension of \({\mathfrak p}\)-adic number fields with Galois group \(G\) and let \(U_K\) be the group of units. The author shows that \(H^1(G,U_K)\) is a cyclic group with canonical generator. Furthermore for any \(\gamma \in H^1(G,U_K)\) the author defines the Poincaré index and considers some of its properties.
