The author, by using the monotone iterative method, proves the existence of the minimal and maximal fixed points of a discontinuous strongly monotone operator on an order interval in an ordered normed linear space. As an application, he applies these results to obtain the extremal solutions for a class of discontinuous scalar differential equations.
