The author proves a conjectured exponential formula. He shows that for Hermitian matrices \(H\) and \(K\), there exist unitary matrices \(U\) and \(V\) such that \(e^{H/2} e^K e^{H/2}= e^{UHU^*+ VKV^*}\). Applications of this exponential formula are also given.
