The authors consider controllability of the Stokes and Navier-Stokes equations with distributed controls supported by a (possibly small) subdomain. The results are on null controllability in arbitrary time \(T > 0\) and on exact controllability to trajectories of the Navier-Stokes equations. The main tool is a global Carleman inequality for the solutions of the Stokes equations and more general systems. Proofs will be presented elsewhere.
