The authors continue their study of the Trotter-Kato product formula. They show that under some relaxed conditions, the symmetric and non-symmetric Trotter-Kato product formula converge in the operator norm. Also, the (same) optimal error bound is determined. The same results are valid if one replaces the exponential function in the product by functions of the Kato class.
