A new definition of restricted Lie superalgebra over a field of characteristic \(p>0\) is given. First it is proved that, when \(p>3\), this definition is equivalent to the usual one [cf. \textit{V. M. Petrogradskiĭ} [J. Algebra 145, No. 1, 1--21 (1992; Zbl 0752.17001)]. Using this equivalence the authors generalize some known results for restricted Lie algebras to restricted Lie superalgebras.
