The authors discuss a transmission problem for a class of dynamic coupled system of hyperbolic equations having piecewise constant coefficients in a bounded 3-dimensional domain. Under certain assumptions the authors prove that the total energy associated with the model decays exponentially. Exact boundary controllability is obtained through Russell's ``controllability via stability'' principle.
