The author studies the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the differential equation (*) \(x'(t)=-c(t) [x(t)-Lx (\tau(t))]\) with a positive continuous \(c(t)\), a nonzero real constant \(L\) and unbounded delay. Conditions under which each solution of (*) approaches a solution of the auxiliary functional equation \(\psi(t)=L \psi(\tau(t))\) are established. Comparisons with known results are given.
