Extending results of \textit{D. Hershkowitz} and \textit{N. Mashal} [Electron. J. Linear Algebra 4, 39--47 (1998; Zbl 0912.15021)], the author derives sufficient conditions for a real irreducible acyclic matrix \(A\) to be \({\alpha}\)-scalar diagonally stable. Also considered is the existence of a positive definite \({\alpha}\)-scalar matrix \(D\) such that \(DA+A^T D\) is diagonal and positive definite.
