Let \(R\) be an associative ring with 1 and anti-involution, \(\Lambda\) a form parameter, \(GQ_{2n}(R,\Lambda)\) the general quadratic (orthogonal) group, \(EQ_{2n}(R,\Lambda)\) its elementary subgroups. Under a suitable \(\Lambda\)-unitary stable range condition, it is shown that \(GQ_{2n}(R,\Lambda)/EQ_{2n}(R,\Lambda)\) is independent on \(n.\)
