The author reviews and improves the existence conditions underlying the Stieltjes and the symmetric Hamburger moment problems in the maximum entropy approach given in a recent paper by \textit{M. Junk} [Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 10, 1001--1025 (2000; Zbl 1012.44005)], where previous contributions to the subject due to M. Frontini and the author are questioned. Attention is focused on the Stieltjes problem, the symmetric Hamburger case being similar.
