The author considers the classification of compact simply connected homogeneous Einstein manifolds of dimension~\(7\). In a first step, he determines the homogeneous spaces \(M=G/H\) which can occur using Lie algebra theory. Next, he finds the invariant Einstein metrics on these homogeneous spaces. This part of the classification proof relies heavily on earlier work by several other authors.
