This paper considers quadratic pencils of differential operators \[ Lu=u''+(2\gamma a+p(x))u'+(\gamma^2b+q(x))u \] where \(a,b\in\mathbb C\), \(b\neq a^ 2\), \(\gamma\) is a spectral parameter, \(\gamma\neq 0\), \(p(x)\in W_ 2^ 1 (G)\), \(q(x)\in L_ 1(G)\) and \(G\) is a finite interval \(\subset\mathbb R\).
