On a class of quantum codes. (Q1432586)

Error correction with quantum codes has to be provided in any quantum computational device. One of the fundamental results in this area introduces convenient necessary and sufficient conditions for a code \(Q\) from a certain fairly narrow class to have a code distance at least \(d\). In the present paper similar necessary and sufficient conditions are proved for the wider class of quantum codes. Potentially, this class makes it possible to apply well-known binary codes to construct quantum codes lying on the Hamming boundary for quantum codes.
