The authors define an extension of the Preisach hysteresis model as an integral average of a family of nonideal relays with time-dependent thresholds. They give a list of some basic monotonicity and continuity properties of the input-output mapping and propose a numerical scheme for its approximation. Finally, a few existence results for differential equations with extended Preisach nonlinearities are conjectured.
