The authors deal with a one-variable prototype delayed dynamical system. They show that Hopf bifurcation occurs in such a simple model. The stability and direction of the bifurcating periodic orbits are investigated by applying the normal theory and center manifold argument. Simulation results are presented, which demonstrate the correctness of the theoretical results.
