Stability of shock waves in the so-called layered structures is studied. To this end, a linear initial boundary value problem is constructed by linearizing nonlinear equations of a hydrodynamical model of a layered structure and a nonlinear relation describing a strong schock. The authors are able to prove ill-posedness of such a problem.
