Based on the strong continuous semigroup theory of linear operators, the author proves the existence of a unique positive time-dependent solution of the model discussed in the paper [V. Sridharan and P. Mohanavadivu, IEEE Trans. Reliab. 47, No. 4, 431--435 (1998)] describing a repairable, standby, human and machine system.
