The author shows that under (rather strong) regularity conditions some functional equations of polynomial type, especially the additive Cauchy equation and the Jensen equation, have the expected solutions provided that the equation only is satisfied on a certain surface. In the erratum the author corrects Theorem 3 and the proof.
