An efficient method is proposed to solve the spherically symmetric dynamic problems of a functionally graded pyroelectric hollow sphere subjected to arbitrary spherically symmetric thermal loads. Firstly, a new dependent variable is introduced to rewrite the governing equations, the mechanical boundary conditions as well as the initial conditions. Secondly, a special function is introduced to transform the inhomogeneous mechanical boundary conditions into the homogeneous ones. Thirdly, by virtue of the separation of variables, a Volterra integral equation of the second kind related to a function with respect to time is derived, which is solved by means of the interpolation method. Numerical results are finally presented.
