Die Experimentaluntersuchung zeigt, daß die Theorie von \textit{P. Das} (Proceedings Indian Association Cultivation of Science 7 (1921), 13-20) bei Abweichungen in Einzelheiten im ganzen die Resultate besser wiedergibt als die Theorie \textit{Kaufmann}s (Annalen d. Physik 54 (1895), 675-712; F. d. M. 26, 937 (JFM 26.0937.*)-939). Während der Berührungszeit zwischen Hammer und Saite bleibt der kürzere Teil der Saite zwischen dem Anschlagpunkt und dem festen Ende nicht gerade, wie \textit{Kaufmann} annahm, sondern führt seine Grundschwingung aus (vgl. Philos. Magazine (7) 9 (1930), 1174-1184; F. d. M. 56).
