Es werden die Matrizen für die Übergänge diskret-kontinuierlich für das Wasserstoffatom im Falle der Separation in Polarkoordinaten berechnet, indem für die Wellenfunktion eine Darstellung durch \textit{Bessel}funktionen genommen wird. (Vgl. die oben besprochene Arbeit von \textit{W. Gordon}.) Als Anwendungsbeispiel wird die an das Ende der \textit{Balmer}- und \textit{Lyman}serie anschließende kontinuierliche Absorption behandelt.
