Die Verf. betrachtet die Differentialgleichung \[ (1)\quad [p(x)u'(x)]'+q(x)u(x)+\lambda u(x)=0 \] [\(p(x)\) verschwindet nur an endlich vielen Stellen auf \((0,\pi), q(x)\) und \(p'(x)\) sind stetig] mit den Randwertbedingungen \[ (2)\quad u(0)=u(\pi) \;\text{oder}\qquad (2')\quad \lim_{x \to 0,\pi} p(x)u(x)=0, \] wenn \(p(0)\), \(p(\pi)=0\). Es sei \[ \varphi_m(x)=\sqrt{\frac 2\pi} \sin mx, \] und die symmetrische Matrix \(K=(k_{m,n})\): \[ k_{m,n}=\int_0^\pi [p(x) \varphi_m'(x)]' \varphi_n(x)dx +\int_0^\pi q(x) \varphi_m(x) \varphi_n(x)dx \] gehöre zu der ersten Klasse im Sinne von \textit{Carleman} (1923; F. d. M. 49, 272 (JFM 49.0272.*)-274). Weiter soll das System \[ \sum_n k_{m,n}x_n=0 \;(m=1,2,\dots) \] keine nicht triviale Lösung endlicher Norm \(\sum_n x_n^2\) besitzen. Für jede Funktion \(f(x)\), die (2) bzw. (2') genügt, und deren Ableitung auf \((0,\pi)\) quadratisch integrierbar ist, wird dann ein Entwicklungssatz hergeleitet.
