    Verf. formuliert (ohne irgend einen Beweisansatz) das folgende Randwertproblem, auf das man durch die Theorie der elektromagnetischen Wellenausbreitung geführt wird: In der \((x, y)\)-Ebene seien \(n\) einfache, geschlossene, differenzierbare Kurven \(C_j\) und die Konstanten \(\lambda_j\), \(\mu_j\), \(\nu_j\) gegeben; \(\mu_j\) sei reell, \(\lambda_j\) und \(\nu_j\) seien dagegen beliebig komplex (\(j= 1\), 2, \(\ldots\), \(n\)). Gesucht werden die Funktionen \(F\) und \(E_j\) (\(j = 1\), 2, \(\ldots\), \(n\)), welche den folgenden Bedingungen genügen: (1) \ außerhalb der Kurven \(C_j\) gilt \(\varDelta F = 0\); (2) \ innerhalb von \(C_j\) gilt \(\varDelta E_j = \nu_jE_j\); (3) \ auf \(C_j\) gilt \[ \begin{aligned} &\frac{\partial F}{\partial \tau}=-\frac{\partial F_j}{\partial\tau}\,,\quad \frac{\partial F}{\partial n}=-\mu_j\frac{\partial E_j}{\partial n}\,, \\ &\int\frac{\partial E_j}{\partial n}\,d\tau=-\int\frac{\partial F}{\partial n}\, d\tau=\lambda_j\qquad (j=1,\,2,\,\ldots,\, n). \end{aligned} \] Dabei bedeutet \(n\) den Normalen- und \(\tau\) den Tangentenvektor von \(C_j\).
