Orthogonal potentials. (Q1451050)

Verf. versteht unter orthogonalen Potentialen \(\varPhi_i\), \(\varPhi_k\) solche Lösungen der \textit{Laplace}sche Differentialgleichung, daß das Volumen- bzw. Flächenintegral über ein bestimmtes Gebiet \[ \int\left( \frac{\partial\varPhi_i}{\partial x}\frac{\partial\varPhi_k}{\partial x}+ \frac{\partial\varPhi_i}{\partial y}\frac{\partial\varPhi_k}{\partial y}+ \frac{\partial\varPhi_i}{\partial z}\frac{\partial\varPhi_k}{\partial z} \right)d\tau, \] dividiert durch den Inhalt dieses Gebiets, den Wert 0 oder 1 hat, je nachdem \(i=k\) oder \(i\neq k\) ist. Verf. zeigt, daß solche Systeme orthogonaler Potentiale ganz ähnliche Eigenschaften haben wie die gewöhnlichen Orthogonalfunktionen.
