    Mit Benutzung von Dispersionsformeln eines allgemeinen Schlages wird ein Ausdruck für die Lage des Extinktionskoeffizienten \(k\) gefunden; ferner wird eine biquadratische Gleichung erhalten, von der drei Wurzeln das Maximum von \(nk\) sowie das Minimum und das Maximum des Brechungsquotienten geben. Der nächste Schritt besteht in der Betrachtung von Zahlenbeispielen für die Formeln.
