Die genannten Strahlen werden als bewegte materielle Teilchen angesprochen, die auf ihrem Wege dauernd Energie abgeben und dadurch ionisieren. Es wird im einzelnen untersucht, wie diese Hypothese mit den Beobachtungen in Einklang zu bringen ist, und welche Hülfshypothesen man machen muß. Analytische Entwicklungen werden aber nicht zu Hülfe genommen.
