Die Theorie der quadratischen und kubischen Transformationen der hypergeometri?cben Funktion rührt von \textit{Riemann} her (Werke, S. 76). Eine exakte Theorie der quadratischen Transformationen lieferten \textit{Hobson} und \textit{Barnes} (Philos. Transactions (A) 187, 1896 und Quarterly Journal of Math. 37, 1906). Verf. gibt hier eine exakte Theorie der kubischen Transformationen und benutzt dabei ähnliche Hülfsmittel wie \textit{Hobson} (Doppelschleifen-Integrale).
