    Enthält auch eine theoretische Ableitung über die Stärke der Ionisation, die in einer isolierten Kammer durch einen Bodenbelag von strahlenden Substanz mit dünner Metalldecke erzeugt wird. Von großer Bedeutung ist dabei die Dicke der strahlenden Schicht, weil hiervon die Menge und Wirksamkeit der in die Kammer gelangenden Strahlen abhängig ist. Es werden in dieser Beziehung drei Hauptfälle angenommen und der Einzelberechnung zugrunde gelegt.
