Es wird das Problem gelöst, die Summe der Funktionswerte \(f(x)\) zu bestimmen, falls \(x\) alle Primzahlen kleiner als eine Zahl \(n\) durchläuft. Annahme ist, daß\ das Problem gelöst sei für die Primzahlen kleiner als \(\sqrt n\). Methodisch werden hierbei die Entwicklungen von \textit{Meissel} und \textit{Rogel} angewendet.
