Diese Notiz enthält, wie der Titel angiebt, Aufschlüsse über die Anwendung der Sehrohre in früheren Zeiten. Die Griechen haben wahrscheinlich keine solche Rohre benutzt, wohl aber die Araber und die Astronomen des christlichen Mittelalters. Teils wurde das Fernrohr mit Messinstrumenten, combinirt, teils diente es als directes Hülfsmittel, um das Gesicht zu unterstützen.
