Wenn \(\eta(u)\) die Anzahl der Primzahlen bedeutet, die nicht grösser sind als \(u\), ferner \(p_1,p_2,\dots,p_i\) die Primzahlen sind, die nicht über \(\sqrt x\) hinausgehen, endlich \(q_1,q_2,\dots,q_j\) diejenigen zwischen \(\sqrt x\) und \(x\), so ist \[ \varSigma\eta\left(\tfrac xp\right)-\varSigma\eta\left(\tfrac xq\right)=(\eta\sqrt x)^2. \]
