In doppelter Weise, deren erste wenigstens in den Lehrbüchern nirgends angewandt zu werden scheint, wird die Bestimmung des Summenausdruckes \((1^p+2^p+\cdots +n^p)\) auf die Auflösung eines Systemes linearer Gleichungen zurückgeführt. Auch wird gezeigt, dass die Determinanten, insbesondere das sogenannte Differenzenproduct, mit Vortheil zur Auflösung jener Gleichungen verwendet werden können.
