The authors study the dynamic behaviour of a simple oscillator consisting of a mass subjected to an elastic restoring force, and to viscous damping and dry friction forces arising from the contact with a moving belt. It is shown that the discontinuity of the governing equations induces non-standard bifurcations in the solutions paths of the system. The authors present and discuss numerous results of calculations depending on various parameters.
