Structural theory of special functions (Q1567842)

The author explains his concept of a classification of functions of mathematical physics which are solutions of some linear second order ordinary differential equations, more precisely of the hypergeometric, Heun and Painlevé equations. He uses his notion of the \(s\)-rank of a singularity, which is an integer or an odd-half integer not smaller than one. The paper is better understandable in connection with other papers indicated in the references.
