The authors construct the Green function for a mixed boundary value problem for a conservative second-order elliptic equation. It is shown that the Green function constructed for a spherical layer can be obtained as the limiting case of the Green function for a problem posed in a ball. As an example, Green functions are constructed for the classical problem of a homogeneous incompressible underground fluid flowing to a horizontal well.
