The author considers the Cauchy problem for the one-speed neutron transport equation with an absorption boundary condition and a small parameter. An asymptotic expansion of the solution to this problem by the boundary function method is constructed. This method is applied to the singularly perturbed nonstationary transport equation. The maximum principle to prove the asymptotic expansion has been used.
